Invisalign are clear aligners that are individually manufactured for your teeth. They are replaced every two to three weeks as your teeth move, with the next set in your sequence. This gently moves your teeth to the required position. Aligners need to be worn for at least 22 hours a day for the best results. Ideally just removed when eating, drinking and when cleaning aligners and your teeth. Your own virtual treatment plan can be viewed to see in advance the changes that will be made. We can discuss your individual requirements and the advantages of this and other invisible treatments for your teeth. Treatment lengths are similar to other braces, and can vary from a few months to a couple of years depending on the amount and type of movement required.
We can straighten most cases with Invisalign, we will discuss with you if other options may work better for your teeth.
Invisalign treatment is simple and easy to fit into your daily routine, without any fuss or embarrassment. There are no metal wires or brackets, so no need to worry about mouth irritations, as the aligners are comfortable to wear and can be easily adjusted with a nail file on the odd occasion there is any discomfort. Invisalign aligners are easily removed so that you can eat, drink, brush and clean as normal. In fact it's only the improvement in your smile and your monitoring appointments that will make you notice you’re having treatment. As the Invisalign aligners are transparent and difficult to detect when worn, they allow you to straighten your teeth without feeling self-conscious – and should you have an occasional important meeting or event coming up, you can always remove the aligners for that short space of time. .
Contact us now to arrange a Free initial consultation, where you can discus with John Bates how you would like your teeth to look. We will then arrange a further complimentary examination, where John Bates will take some intial records and discuss your treatment further. Alternatively if you are sure you would like Invisalign we can go straight to full Record Taking for your ClinCheck 3D computer simulation.
John Bates will take photos, x-rays and impressions of your teeth and discus options for treatment with you
This is where we take detailed impressions of your upper and lower teeth, further photography of your smile and discuss further about Invisalign and what to expect. These records are used to provide a 3D ClinCheck computer simulation from Invisalign. We can e-mail a movie of this to you ahead of your next visit were we look at your ClinCheck together. You can of course also show the movie to family and friends.
This is where John Bates will show you your 3D ClinCheck computer simulation(s) from Invisalign, and answer any questions you may have after seeing the movie e-mailed to you in advance. The computer simulation in your ClinCheck will be reviewed and discussed allowing you to make changes if you wish to. If more than one approach to your treatment is possible you would be able to select your prefered ClinCheck. The 3D Clin Check allows you to look at your teeth from all sides. You will also be able to see what each aligner is going to do in turn showing how important each aligner stage is to completing your treatment. From this 3D Simulation you will get an exact total of how many treatment aligners you are going to need in your first set of aligners to get your smile similar to the simulation. Finally the ClinCheck will show how many tooth coloured "bobbles" you need and if slenderisation of teeth is needed as part of your treatment. Once you are happy with your proposed treatment we will approve you ClinCheck and start the manufacture of your aligners.
Once your ClinCheck has been approved it takes about two weeks to make up all your aligners, and for them to be sent to us and to be checked. At your fit appointment John Bates will give clear instructions on wearing the aligners. He will insert your upper and lower aligners to check they fit perfectly. You will then have the opportunity to practice removing and inserting your aligners until you feel confident. We will then arrange your review appointment in four weeks time. If any "bobbles" are needed initially they will be placed at this appointment.
Here John Bates will review how you have got on with the aligners. He will check treatment is progressing OK and will then place any necessary tooth coloured "bobbles" on your teeth and insert the aligners over the top. Review appointments are part of your Invisalign journey and will vary in timing depending on how well we, and you, feel treatment is progressing. Some appointments will be required at specific times if some slenderisation is required or "bobbles" need adding or removing to help your treatment. Reviews are normally carried out every 6 to 8 weeks, but Invisalign is a flexible product, we can discuss with you your individual requirements and work around them.
Review appointments are part of your Invisalign journey and will be denoted by your wishes and where we are required to do slenderisation or add or remove "bobbles" as part of your Invisalign treatment. These reviews are normally carried out every 6 to 8 weeks but we can often change them to fit in with your requirements.
During the last few aligner stages, or at the end, we will review your new smile. If there are slight adjustments to be made then we can do a further record taking appointment and get refinement aligners. There is no cost for this as it is part of your Invisalign package. If this part of treatment is not necessary then congratulations on achieving the smile you have always wanted. Time for retaining your fantastic result.
Once we have got to your perfect smile then we need to make sure that we hold it in position, otherwise the teeth may move in the future. We offer three alternatives for you. Included in the package are either a set of removable retainers similar to your aligners, or fixed bonded retainers wich are fixed permanently behind you upper and lower fron teeth. Alternatively we can arrange for 3 sets of Invisalign Vivera retainers at a further cost, currently £200. These are very high quality retainers made exactly to your preferred final Invisalign stage.
These are tooth coloured filling material that is matched to the colour of your teeth for invisibility. These provide tension for the aligner movement to happen and are a key part of your treatment, and why Invisalign is more effective than other aligners. If a bobble comes off whilst you are in treatment you must have this placed back on, so do contact us ASAP for an appointment with John Bates to do this.
This is where fractions of mm’s are shaved of your teeth to allow us to get your teeth straight. It also helps to avoid the need for extractions. It is small amounts and it does not harm your teeth in any way. This is not required in all Invisalign treatment but you will be informed about it. If you have any concerns then John Bates will be able to help you.
