Catherine Balmer Practice Manager GDC reg 245271
Catherine has worked within the Dental Industry for 7 years, having started her journey as a Trainee Dental Nurse back in 2012.
Upon qualifying, Catherine took interest in ensuring that the service being provided met the fundamental standards of quality and safety set by the Care Quality Commission and that subsequently, the patient experience was the best that it could possibly be. She completed the ILM Level 3 in team management and leading, this led her into being promoted as Deputy Practice Manager in 2015.
Catherine took a career break after the birth of her son and returned to practice in 2017. She studied the British Dental Associations Oral Health Education certificate in 2018 and upon successful completion is now qualified to deliver Oral Health Education. Shortly after, Catherine left practice in order to progress into a more clinical role and found herself employed within the Paediatric department of Manchester Dental Hospital. She found this to be incredibly interesting, seeing and treating a wide population of patients on a daily basis with complex medical needs or simply dental phobia! Her favourite part of the day was often receiving a big hug or a high 5 from a previously anxious child who after a period of acclimatisation, eventually enjoyed their visits to the department! She found this extremely rewarding, however after 9 months, Catherine found herself missing Practice.
This led her to employment here as a Dental Nurse and subsequently four months later, Practice Manager.
Catherine is proud of her work life achievements and is looking forward to using her experience and knowledge to develop the practice further and support the hard working and friendly staff here at SHDP.
When she is not in work, Catherine adores quality family time with her husband and young son, any form of dance, jetting around the world holidaying and a good cup of tea whilst kicking back watching a feel good, cheesy musical.
